Welcome Winship Students and Families,

The 2022-2023 school year is right around the corner. I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer and have taken time to do the things that you most enjoy with family and friends.  I am looking forward to working together with you in a partnership to ensure the success of your child.

As we all know, the last couple of years were unprecedented, especially in the world of education. At Winship we are excited to continue resuming many of the activities of school that have had to be on pause due to the pandemic as well as serve our students in the classroom by providing a rigorous learning experience. Please note the daily schedule for students (8:40 am to 3:31 pm) with the exception of Mondays for teacher collaboration (8:40 am to 2:28 pm).  You may reference the enclosed bell schedule for start and end times.

Please take note of some specific dates to keep in mind over the next few weeks:

  • August 19th-Back-to-School Meet and Greet(2:00-3:30): If you are unable to come at your scheduled time, please call the office for further direction.
  • August 22nd - First day of school (Note early release time of 2:28 pm)
  • August 24th is Back To School Night (5:30-7:00 pm)
  • August 24th-September 2nd School Site Council Election
  • August 30th- School Picture Day

I hope that you will take every opportunity to become involved with our Winship School Community, through volunteering in a variety of ways such as: joining our PTSA, School Site Council, ELAC, PBIS team, or attending and supporting school events. Please Like Winship Middle School on Facebook to receive updates regarding upcoming events. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child.

I am privileged to be a part of this school community. It is the people that help to make Winship Middle School a wonderful place! When school and family work as partners towards the same goal, every child will succeed. As principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with me through our school secretary to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas you would like to share to help make this school year great!

Respectfully,

Kristi Puzz, Principal
